Big Brother Naija star Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has urged the police to prosecute TikTok Mirabel, who admitted that she made a false rape allegation.
The woman, identified only as Mirabel, had posted on TikTok that she was attacked and raped by a stranger who forced his way into her apartment in the Ogijo area of Ogun State. Her claim spread widely on social media and drew strong reactions from users.
In a phone conversation that was shared online by social media critic VeryDarkMan, Mirabel acknowledged that parts of her earlier account were untrue. In the recording, she said, “Yes, sir, please help me, I am very sorry, I have been taking drugs, and I was not thinking clearly when I posted the videos.”
The Ogun State Police Command has said it plans to arrest and charge her after she is discharged from the hospital where she is receiving treatment. A police source told PUNCH that officers, including a divisional police officer, were at the hospital and “once she is discharged, she will be taken into custody, and a charge will be prepared against her for trial. The essence is to serve as a deterrent to others.”
On her official page on 𝕏, Tacha wrote that authorities in charge of rape and assault cases should make sure Mirabel is penalised and quoted the law on punishment for actual offenders. She said, “Now that it’s been established that Mirabel lied about the rpe allegation, I expect the police and the agencies in charge of handling rpe and assault cases to make sure they penalize Mirabel and that she receives the same punishment a rpist would get… CAUSE we live in a very wicked and terrible society where rpists and rpe apologists are looking for excuses to continue to rpe and abuse women.. We should NEVER allow stupid women to empower these evil and wicked men! She must be penalized.”
