They tried to shut me down for talking about Jesus, Odumodublvck on Headies mic cut

Rapper Odumodublvck has reacted to the abrupt interruption of his acceptance speech at the 17th Headies Awards, where he won the Next Rated and Best Rap Single categories.

The 31-year-old, born Tochukwu Ojogwu, was delivering his speech on Sunday night when organisers cut off his microphone and asked him to leave the stage, citing time constraints.

But the rapper refused to budge, remaining on stage with his mother and a group of about 10 men who had accompanied him to the event.

Before the interruption, the ‘Legolas’ crooner credited his success to his Christian faith.

After a tense standoff, the microphone was reconnected, and Odumodublvck was allowed to finish his speech to loud cheers from the audience.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the Abuja-based rapper expressed displeasure over the incident, stating that he was censored for mentioning Jesus.

“I was talking about Jesus and they tried to shut me down,” he wrote.

“I am hundred percent sure that if I was talking about His Excellency Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu I would not have been cut off.”

Despite the drama, he said he holds no grudge against the organisers.

“I genuinely have no bad blood towards the Headies,” he added.

“Rather, I am grateful they put my mic back on to spread the gospel.”

He concluded his message with a bold declaration: “Jesus is King. He is before now and forever.”

The 17th edition of the Headies, held at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, marked the award show’s return to Nigeria after two years in the US.
