The Carpenter’s Church has announced the death of its presiding pastor Nkechi Ene.
A statement issued by pastor Sola Akinwale on behalf of the church said Pastor Ene died on Wednesday, October 29, in Lagos after returning from a ministry trip.
The church said she experienced a health crisis shortly after her arrival in Nigeria.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing into glory of God’s servant, our presiding pastor, our mother-in-Israel, Pastor Nkechi Ene,” the statement said.
“As our hearts hurt and questions assail our minds, we rest assured in the unwavering truth that God is good and His mercies endure forever.”
Ene led The Carpenter’s Church in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and was known for her Bible-based teachings and long-standing commitment to ministry.
She began her pastoral work under the leadership of her late husband, Pastor Charles Ene, the founding pastor of the church.
After his death in 2013, she continued to lead the ministry and expanded its outreach through media broadcasts and community programmes.
The church said she remained active in ministry until her death and had just concluded an overseas mission that featured several teaching sessions.
“She lived and believed the Word of God till the very end,” the statement said.
“She has now heard the words from her Master, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’”
The church called for prayers for her family and her four daughters, Zoe, Chloe, Tracy and Osi.
Condolences were also extended to her mother, Mercy Chijioke and her siblings.
“As a church family, we acknowledge that this is a challenging time for us,” the statement added.
“At times like these, we must embrace, comfort, and encourage one another, starting with our pastor’s family.”
The Carpenter’s Church expressed gratitude to God for Pastor Nkechi Ene’s life and ministry, saying her work influenced many within and outside Nigeria.
“Though now absent from us, her impact and legacy endure in our hearts and in our lives,” the statement concluded.
“The Lord is good, and His mercies endure forever.”
