Afrobeats sensation Tems has revealed what her life might have looked like if music hadn’t worked out for her.
During an interactive session with fans on X, one fan asked, “If music didn’t work, what else do you think you would be doing today?”
Tems replied, “I might have been an accountant or a mathematics teacher.”
The 30-year-old, whose real name is Temilade Openiyi, previously worked as a digital marketer before quitting in January 2018 to focus on her music career. Just months later, she released her debut single, ‘Mr Rebel’, which gained attention in Nigeria.
Her big break came in 2020 when she was featured on Wizkid’s hit single Essence. The song later peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after a remix with Justin Bieber, giving Tems international recognition.
