Temi Otedola opens up on gruelling journey behind Ms Kanyin

Actress and fashion influencer Temi Otedola has opened up about the challenges she faced while filming her new movie Ms Kanyin, which is currently number one on Prime Video.

Temi shared a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram on Monday alongside a long caption reflecting on the intense experience making the film.

“This was the most testing film shoot of my career so far,” she wrote.

“From a gruelling shoot schedule in the summer of 2023 (yes we started this project 2 years ago!!) to reshoots in April 2024, we made Adesoye College, Offa our new home for several months. Shooting throughout most nights, I became completely nocturnal.”

She also revealed that Ms Kanyin marked the first time she performed physical stunts on a film set.

“Stunts!! Yes, it was my first ever time doing physical stunts!! I left Kwara State sleep deprived with a few bruises and some huge mosquito bites, but I’m really proud of what we did with Ms Kanyin. We all poured so much love and effort into this movie so we’re so grateful you are all enjoying it at home,” she said.

“NUMBER 1 ON PRIME VIDEO LETS GO. Keep on watching, keep on sharing your opinion. How do we feel about Amara??? I need to know. Thank you all, Teddies 🤎🐻 You!!”

Temi also announced that a making-of documentary for the movie is now available on her YouTube channel.

Ms Kanyin, which premiered on June 27, is a supernatural horror film directed by Jerry Ossai and produced by Nemsia Studios. Temi plays Amara, a rebellious boarding school student who awakens a terrifying spirit after breaking a sacred rule.

The cast includes Michelle Dede, Kanaga Jnr, Toluwani George, Natse Jemide, Kalu Ikeagwu and Demola Adedoyin.

Temi’s father, billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, during the weekend took to social media to express his pride in his daughter’s performance.

“So proud of my star @TemiOtedola. New movie ⭐️ ‘Ms Kanyin’ is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Papa is so proud of you! …F.Ote,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

This is Temi’s third major film role, following her debut in Citation (2020) and her performance in The Man for the Job (2022). She won Best Actress at the Ghana Movie Awards for Citation.
