Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has clapped back at actress Sarah Martins over her remarks about his supposed new restaurant.
Sarah had taken to Instagram on Monday to suggest that the singer should have opened the restaurant in the name of his wife, Chioma, rather than himself.
According to her, Chioma is widely known for her culinary skills and the venture would have made more sense as a tribute to her.
“This is coming from a place of LOVE because I am a huge fan of OBO,” Sarah wrote alongside a photo of Chioma.
“I honestly feel Davido’s restaurant should have been opened for Chioma or probably in her name because we’ve always known her to be a passionate fantastic chef so I was really anticipating a day will come when Davido will happily announce Chioma’s (in her name) restaurant not Davido’s restaurant.
“Again, this is not coming from a place of hate and I’m happy for them regardless of who owns the restaurant.
“5ive Star Restaurant by Chef Chi would have made more sense and will still promote the 5ive Star album by OBO because even satan loves Chioma.
Chioma I love you and please do not misunderstand this post.”
However, Davido did not take kindly to the comment.
The 31-year-old fired back, stating categorically that no restaurant was opened, and what Sarah assumed to be a restaurant launch was simply a promotional campaign tied to his latest album, 5.
“U no get sense …no restaurant was opened that was a promotional campaign with @foodcourt_app for my album 5️⃣.. now take my wife’s picture off page,” he wrote in the comment section of the post on Tuesday.
Sarah Martins has long been a vocal supporter of Davido.
In June 2024, when Davido and Chioma held their traditional wedding, she trolled investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo for opposing the couple. Sarah asked netizens to check on Kemi, saying she should have been overwhelmed by “chest pain.”
The actress is yet to respond to Davido’s outburst.
