Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tacha Akide has surprised fans as she publicly celebrated the birthday of her colleague Mercy Eke.
Mercy, who turned 35 on Monday, had shared photos of herself on Instagram in a white suit with a reflective caption.
“Happy Birthday to Me. Today I celebrate not just my age, but my journey. From tough battles to quiet wins, I’ve grown stronger, wiser, and braver. I honour the resilience, the lessons, the faith that kept me going, even when no one was watching… Here’s to my strength, my growth, and the brighter days ahead,” she wrote.
Tacha dropped a comment under Mercy’s Instagram post, describing her as “gorgeous” and adding, “stay winning.”
The gesture came as a surprise to many who have followed the duo’s long history of rivalry since their Pepper Dem season.
Tacha’s birthday note drew admiration from fans who sent with many praising and sending her love emojis. Their rivalry dates back to 2019 when Tacha was disqualified after a fight with Mercy, who eventually went on to win.
In subsequent years, they appeared to shade each other on social media. In 2023, when Mercy showed off her Range Rover, Tacha was reported to have tweeted, “But is she me?” She also questioned Mercy’s BBNaija win, implying it was aided by her own disqualification.
The two reconciled publicly in 2022 during a sit-down with Toke Makinwa and later in an Instagram Live session with Khloe Abiri, insisting that fans amplified their differences.
Mercy is the first female winner of Big Brother Naija.
