Telecommunications operator T2 has announced a strategic collaboration with Carnival Calabar as the event’s digital technology partner, introducing its new mobile app, MyT2, as the official digital companion for the festival.
According to T2’s chief executive officer, Obafemi Banigbe, the introduction of MyT2 marks a shift toward customer-focused innovation, reflecting how Nigerians now live and connect.
Mr Banigbe said people want more than basic connectivity, noting that they seek technology that simplifies everyday tasks, strengthens relationships and supports both work and leisure.
He added that MyT2 was designed to bring these moments together in one space.
At the festival, Carnival Calabar attendees will access Festive Mode, a feature developed for major cultural celebrations.
Through this, users can view real-time schedules, ticket details, curated experiences and vendor listings to help them navigate events and stay connected on-site or remotely.
This will be the first time the festival is supported by a unified digital guide.
Beyond the festival, MyT2 offers several functions for T2 customers and participants, including the ability to buy, borrow or share airtime and data, manage spending and join T2 Hives, where groups such as families or teams can pool and monitor shared resources.
The app also integrates the 9SB Wallet, allowing users to send and receive money and pay for T2 services.
Users can also reserve personalised phone numbers, book SIM registration or swap appointments and manage communication preferences through the Do Not Disturb tool.
Obafemi Banigbe said the partnership with Carnival Calabar aligns with T2’s goal of using technology to support cultural expression and community engagement.
The debut of MyT2 at Carnival Calabar marks a milestone in T2’s transformation following its transition from 9mobile, with more lifestyle-driven digital services expected as the brand expands its strategy.
