Telecommunications operator T2 has condemned what it describes as a “wave of misinformation” circulating online about its network operations and relationship with infrastructure provider IHS.
In a statement on Monday, the company said recent commentary by “pseudo-analysts” has created a false impression about how telecoms networks function, accusing such individuals of distorting facts “for attention and engagement”.
T2, formerly known as 9mobile, said claims suggesting that its service continuity depends heavily on IHS towers are “technically false, uninformed, and recklessly misleading”.
According to the operator, commentators pushing the claims are either unaware of or deliberately ignoring the role of National Roaming, an NCC-approved framework that allows telecom companies to ride on partner networks to deliver seamless coverage, even in areas where they do not operate their own base stations.
“The attempt to link T2’s operational integrity to IHS-related narratives is nothing more than manufactured disinformation,” the company stated, adding that its operations remain stable, fully supported, and aligned with industry standards.
T2 said the pattern of inaccurate and sensational commentary suggests malicious intent to create confusion rather than offer genuine analysis.
“Self-proclaimed analysts should be held to a standard of accuracy, yet they’re publishing content without grasping telecom operations, National Roaming, or infrastructure-sharing implications,” it said.
The company urged the public and stakeholders to disregard the circulating claims and rely only on official communications from T2 or recognised industry authorities.
Reaffirming its long-term vision, T2 said it remains committed to delivering world-class connectivity as a leading digital lifestyle partner, “empowering Nigerians to achieve their ambitions.”
