Sunmbo Adeoye, wife of Pastor David Adeoye, the General Overseer of Royalty Christian Center, has shared her emotional journey through infertility, revealing she experienced multiple failed IVF attempts and miscarriages before the birth of her son, David.
The mother of four opened up in an Instagram post on Monday as she celebrated the seventh birthday of her son whom she referred to as “my testimony.”
“After multiple failed IVFs and multiple miscarriages with no logical reasons, hope felt like a myth,” she wrote.
Sunmbo, who has two children from her previous relationship with music star 2Baba, said her mother was a constant source of encouragement during her years of waiting.
“She kept reassuring me that I would indeed deliver a living baby, year in and year out,” she said.
She recalled the exact moment she believed the miracle began, during her husband’s birthday celebration.
“That was the night ooo. We danced, laughed, snapped pictures and boom! The miracle clicked,” she wrote.
According to Sunmbo, fear crept in when she discovered she was pregnant, but a word from her son Nino helped her overcome it.
“Fear tried to creep in, whispering the past into my womb. No way ooo! Then, my son Nino told me in the kitchen, ‘Don’t let fear steal our joy’. I snapped out of it and I chose joy,” she said.
The entrepreneur revealed she had her first baby shower with the pregnancy and ignored those who discouraged her from celebrating.
“They said, ‘take it down’. I said, ‘watch Him perfect it’. Did He not do it?” she asked.
She praised her husband, Pastor David Adeoye, for his unwavering support in the labour room.
“Pastor @davidoadeoye stood tall, praying, watching, fighting and declaring the word while we wrestled. He said to me, ‘You are both champions!’ The moment David was born, his 21 years of waiting for his own child was finally over,” she wrote.
Sunmbo said she shared the story to encourage those still waiting on God.
“Today I return with this testimony that is now 7 years old to thank God for the perfection that is ‘Prince David the Champion’ and to encourage anyone holding on to God and believing for a settlement. My God will make you laugh,” she said.
Sunmbo and Pastor Adeoye got married in 2013. Their son, David, was born in 2017. Before that, she had two sons with 2Baba, while her husband had never had a child of his own until David.
