Producer and blogger Stanley Chibueze, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, has called for the release of actress Angela Okorie following reports that she was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre.
Reports circulating on Wednesday said Angela was arrested at her Lagos residence on Tuesday and later taken to Abuja to face allegations linked to cybercrime. The case is reportedly connected to a long-running online dispute involving fellow actress Mercy Johnson.
Reacting to the development, Stanley Ontop took to his Instagram page to demand Angela’s release, stating that any complaint against her should be addressed through lawful means. In his post, he wrote:
“I will be in Abuja tomorrow for Angela Okorie’s matter. Whoever is in charge should be careful because the Human Rights Watch is watching you.”

Angela Okorie and Mercy Johnson have been involved in a public disagreement for several years, largely played out on social media. Their exchanges have drawn widespread attention, with supporters and critics taking sides at different times.
In 2023, Okorie issued a public apology to Mercy Johnson, admitting that her reactions during their online exchanges were sometimes driven by anger and emotions.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force has not issued an official statement confirming the arrest or outlining any charges. Okorie has also not publicly addressed the reports, while Mercy Johnson has remained silent on the matter.
