Veteran actress Patience Ozokwo has spoken about her role in the recently released Nigerian action film Son of the Soil.
In a video shared on Instagram on Monday, the 67-year-old introduced herself and described her character in the film.
“Patience Ozokwor is my name. In this movie, I play the role of Madam Ladejo. The lead character’s mother. It’s not something you can explain in a jiffy. Something you need to sit down and watch. And you can actually relate all our environments of such. And believe you me, you will feel you yourself watching is in the movie. Thanks for loving me so much. Keep watching any movie you see my face.”
Ozokwo also spoke earlier about how Son of the Soil differs from her previous work.
“Many of you know my from my iconic OG character in classic Nollywood films, but Son of the Soil put me in a different element, you will see me in a Nigeria action thriller film like never before. Go, watch, stream it and don’t forget to share with your friends and community.”
Son of the Soil is an action drama centring on Zion Ladejo, a former special operations soldier who returns to Nigeria and becomes entangled with criminal networks following his sister’s death. The story blends elements of suspense, action and emotional drama.
The film also stars Razaaq Adoti, Ireti Doyle, Taye Arimoro, Sunshine Rosman and others. It has attracted attention at international film festivals and has been praised for its technical quality and broad appeal.
Son of the Soil, directed by Chee Keong Cheung, was released in cinemas on November 21, 2025. It later became available on Netflix on March 1, 2026 and saw a US theatrical release starting March 6, 2026.
