Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo) has lauded the Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum (OLEF) as a transformative platform for fostering progress in Nigeria’s energy sector. The forum focuses on critical themes such as business performance, cost discipline, and process simplification.

Speaking during the event, SNEPCo managing director Ronald Adams, represented by the general manager, wells and geosciences operations Joe Mordi, highlighted the significance of the forum to Shell’s legacy and the broader energy industry. “This event is special to the Shell brand, not only because of the nostalgia of Oloibiri but the quality of discourse it has enabled in our sector over the years,” he said.

Adams expressed gratitude to the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council, the organisers of the event, and the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), the host, for yet another successful edition of the forum.

The Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum was initiated in 1991 to commemorate Nigeria’s first commercial oil discovery at Oloibiri, Bayelsa State, in 1956 by Shell. Over the years, it has become a critical platform for engaging stakeholders on the future of energy in Nigeria.

Reflecting on the theme for this year’s event, “Driving Energy Sustainability Through Technology, Policy, and Supply Chain Excellence,” Adams linked the discussions to recent milestones in the energy sector. He noted the $5-billion final investment decision by Shell on the Bonga North Deepwater project as a testament to the industry’s potential and commitment to innovation.

“These strides come with a commitment to excellence required of us – for stakeholders, colleagues, our country, and indeed, future generations. The future is bright, and we have the opportunity to co-create it,” he added.
