Former senator representing Kogi West, Smart Adeyemi, has lost his mother, Victoria Adeyemi.
She died on Wednesday morning at the age of 88 after a brief illness at her residence in Abuja.
In a condolence message released on Thursday, the national president of the Iyara Development Association (IDA), Aliyu Badaki, described the deceased as a community pillar who was committed to the growth of Iyara.
“This is to announce the glorious exit of our dear, lovely grandma, Mama Victoria Oyeyemi Adeyemi (née Ibilola). She will always be remembered for her love and passion towards the development of Iyara,” the statement read.Badaki also extended condolences to the former senator and his family.
“May her soul rest in peace. Our condolences to the entire family, especially the Distinguished Senator Smart Adeyemi and the community in general.”
Senator Adeyemi, in a statement issued by his personal assistant Kayode Olorunmotito, confirmed his mother’s death and noted that she spent most of her life in Minna, Niger State, before moving to Abuja.
The family said funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
