Singer Slimcase has issued a public apology to the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) after using the agency’s official uniform and a waste truck in one of his skit videos without permission.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, Slimcase, whose real name is Oluwafemi Oladipo, said he regretted the unintended impressions the video created.

The statement read in part:
“APOLOGY TO THE LAGOS STATE WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (LAWMA) AND ITS PARTNERS WITH REGARDS TO THE VIDEO CONTENT POSTED ONLINE AND MADE WITH LAWMA UNIFORM AND TRUCK… I take full responsibility.” He added that the content was his idea and that he removed the video from all platforms on 8 December 2025 as soon as concerns were raised.

Slimcase said the video was not intended “to ridicule, misrepresent, embarrass, or demean LAWMA, its officers, staff, partners or the Lagos State Government.” He explained that his “sole objective was to create creative content intended to promote the dignity of labour and to emphasize that every profession, including waste management, is noble, valuable, and deserving of respect.”

He also said that he did not intend to suggest that LAWMA endorsed or participated in the video, and he confirmed that no related or adapted versions of the video were in circulation.

The singer reaffirmed his respect for LAWMA’s role and the Lagos State Government, and he said he would take greater care in future creative work.

His caption on the post read: “Apology to Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), its partners and Lagos State Government @lawma_gov muyiwag.”

LAWMA is responsible for waste management and environmental sanitation in Lagos State. The authority continues operations to keep the city clean, including surveillance and enforcement against illegal dumping and other waste infractions.
