The manager of singer Simi has dismissed online claims that she and her husband, Adekunle Gold, are planning to divorce.
The reports were shared widely on social media this week and were based on a document circulating online that was said to be a divorce petition.
Vincent Nwanze, who manages Simi, described the claim as untrue and said the document was not authentic.
“It’s fake and fabricated. First, stage names are not tenable in any court of justice worldwide as indicated in the document. Even the suit number on the document is backdated to 2024 (SUIT NO HCL/FC/2024/0178),” he said.
The document, dated February 28, 2026, claimed the couple’s marriage had “irretrievably broken down” and cited emotional, financial and professional control as reasons for seeking dissolution of the marriage and joint custody of their child. Some reports suggested it was filed at the High Court of Lagos State, but Vincent said errors in the paper showed it was not a real court filing.
The rumour spread after old social media posts linked to Simi resurfaced, which some users interpreted as signs of problems in the marriage. Adekunle Gold’s recent return to social media after a short break also fuelled speculation among fans.
Simi and Adekunle Gold have been together for several years. They met as friends and collaborators, began dating and married in January 2019. Their daughter, Adejare, known as Deja, was born in 2020. Earlier in 2026, the couple were also reported to have welcomed twins, a development that was celebrated by fans. Recently they marked their seventh wedding anniversary with messages to each other on social media.
Some reactions on social media have gone beyond the divorce claim itself. After renewed discussion around the couple, media personality Do2dtun urged followers to stop criticising Adekunle Gold online and to respect his work and family life. In a post on X, he said: “Leave AG alone … Una carry issue turn am to assault and extreme bullying. It’s enough.”
At the time of reporting, neither Simi nor Adekunle Gold had issued personal statements about the divorce rumours.
