Singer Simi has added another feather to her cap as her hit single Duduke has been certified Gold in New Zealand, after surpassing 15,000 units in the country.

This marks her first-ever international certification.

Released in April 2020, Duduke blends Afrobeats, pop, and R&B. Inspired by the sound of a heartbeat, the song symbolises love and anticipation, reflecting Simi’s pregnancy at the time. Its music video, featuring her proudly showing her baby bump, resonated with fans and sparked the viral “#DudukeChallenge” worldwide.

Simi expressed her gratitude, saying, “It feels amazing to know that Duduke has touched hearts far beyond Nigeria. This is not just my win, but a win for everyone who has supported me along the way.”

Born Simisola Kosoko, Simi began her music career as a gospel artist and gained mainstream fame with the 2014 hit “Tiff.” She now runs her own label, Studio Brat, giving her full creative control over her music. Her fifth studio album, Lost and Found, released in 2024, showcases her growth as an artist.
