Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has presented an appointment letter to businessman Obi Iyiegbu, known as Obi Cubana, naming him South-East coordinator of the City Boy Movement.

Obi Cubana disclosed the appointment in a post shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday.

He said Seyi Tinubu visited him at his residence on Monday night, where the certificate of appointment was presented.

According to Obi Cubana, the visit also allowed both men to discuss national issues.

“Last night, my long-time friend and brother, Seyi Tinubu, paid me a visit at my home. We held great conversations about everything,” he wrote.

The City Boy Movement is a political support group linked to President Tinubu and is expected to play a role ahead of the 2027 general election.

Following reactions to the appointment on social media, Obi Cubana said his decision to accept the role was based on the belief that change comes from engagement rather than withdrawal.

“I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he said.

He added that the role would not affect his values or commitments.

“I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside – so yes, here we are. I am a City Boy through and through,” he stated.

Obi Cubana also said he intends to carry people along in his engagement, describing Tinubu as a man of commerce and stressing the need for inclusion.

“All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations,” he said.

He called for tolerance of differing views and urged Nigerians to focus on contributing to national development, while thanking supporters for their messages.
