Former governor of Kwara State Bukola Saraki has reacted to the abduction at a CAC church in Eruku town, Kwara, describing the incident as a terrorist attack that left some residents injured and others kidnapped.
Mr Saraki addressed the development in a statement posted on X on Wednesday.
He said the attack had disrupted activities in Eruku, a town in the southern part of Kwara State.
“I received the sad news of the terrorist attack on Eruku town in my home state. In the incident, some residents were injured while some others were kidnapped,” he wrote.
Saraki expressed sympathy for the victims and their families, offering prayers for recovery and strength.
The former governor called on the Federal Government and security agencies to act immediately to secure the release of those kidnapped.
He also urged the security agencies to strengthen security in Eruku and across Kwara State.
“I call on the Federal Government, particularly the heads of our security agencies, to urgently act to ensure that the kidnapped victims regain their freedom and return home safely to their loved ones. I also enjoin the security agencies to put a solid arrangement in place that will secure Eruku town and all parts of Kwara State,” he said.
Saraki noted the strategic role of Kwara State as a link between Nigeria’s northern and southern regions.
He argued that the state required a security structure that would protect national stability.
“The state is one of the gateways into the country and a link between the southern and northern parts. This makes it deserving of a special security arrangement that will not jeopardise our national interest and internal peace,” he stated.
Saraki ended his message with a prayer for the country.
“May Allah heal our land and help us defeat all those waging wars against Nigeria,” he wrote.
