Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the redeployment of Adetola John as the accountant-general of Lagos State.
The announcement was made on Tuesday in a statement published on the Lagos State Government’s official social media page.
According to the statement titled “Sanwo-Olu approves redeployment of Mr. Adetola, Muyiwa John as new State Accountant-General,” the governor approved his deployment as accountant-general and permanent secretary, State Treasury Office.
The redeployment follows the statutory retirement of the outgoing accountant-general and permanent secretary Abiodun Muritala.
An official circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service confirmed that Mr. Adetola was redeployed from the Office of the State Auditor-General, where he served as state auditor-general.
The circular stated that the redeployment takes effect from Monday.
Head of Service Bode Agoro urged stakeholders to give the circular the necessary publicity and cooperation to ensure a smooth transition.
Adetola has held senior roles in the Lagos State public service, including serving as state auditor-general before his latest appointment.
The Office of the Accountant-General oversees the management of the state’s treasury, including revenue and expenditure control, financial reporting and compliance with public finance regulations.
The government said the redeployment is part of efforts to ensure continuity in public financial management.
