Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received American streamer and internet personality Kai Cenat at the Lagos House, Marina, on Wednesday.

The governor’s senior special assistant on new media, Jubril Gawat, disclosed the visit in a post on X.

Mr Gawat said Cenat, who is on his second visit to Lagos, paid a courtesy visit and shared his experiences in the state with the governor.

“Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu today received American online streamer, YouTube and internet personality @KaiCenat on a courtesy visit at the Lagos House, Marina,” the statement read.

“He shared some of his very nice experiences he has enjoyed visiting Lagos. This is his second visit to the state,” it added.

Gawat also noted that Cenat is in Lagos to follow up on projects and initiatives targeting children and young people in the state.

“Kai Cenat is in Lagos to follow up on some projects and initiatives he plans to execute for kids and young people in Lagos State, Nigeria,” he said.

Cenat arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Wednesday, where he was received by a crowd of supporters.

During his first visit nearly a year ago, he pledged to build a school for children in the Makoko area.

According to Cenat, the project has faced delays linked to land acquisition and regulatory approvals.

The plan was later revised to locate the school in Yaba, while still providing free education for children from Makoko once the facility is completed.

He previously stated during a livestream that over $1 million had been raised toward the school initiative and that the remaining work includes buying land, obtaining approvals, constructing the facility and organising staffing and curriculum.

Cenat’s visit follows the recent visit of another American streamer, IShowSpeed, who toured Lagos as part of a wider Africa tour and attracted crowds while interacting with local creators and fans.
