Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has denied reports suggesting a rift between him and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, describing such claims as false and misleading.

The denial was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by his special adviser on media and publicity Gboyega Akosile. The statement said reports circulating on some online platforms and blogs alleging a disagreement between the two governors were untrue.

According to the statement, the relationship between Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun remains warm and cordial, with both governors maintaining regular contact and meetings to discuss issues affecting their states.

“Prince Dapo Abiodun and Mr Sanwo-Olu meet regularly and speak with each other frequently on the development of their states and in the interest of their people,” the statement read.

It added that Lagos and Ogun states share common boundaries and socio-cultural ties, and advised against attempts to spread misinformation aimed at creating discord between the two governors.

The statement urged those behind the reports to desist, noting that both leaders are focused on improving the lives of their people.

On the same day, Sanwo-Olu also congratulated Ogun State deputy governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele on her 60th birthday.

In a separate congratulatory message, also issued by Akosile, the Lagos governor commended Mr Salako-Oyedele for her contributions to the development of Ogun State and her role in the current administration.

He described her as a dependable partner to Governor Abiodun and said their working relationship has contributed to the success of the Ogun State government.

“On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, the people and government of Lagos State, I wish Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. (Mrs) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, many happy returns as she celebrates her 60th birthday today.

“Engr. Salako-Oyedele is worth celebrating at 60 for her remarkable contributions to humanity and the society. She has distinguished herself as a seasoned and principled technocrat and administrator in the private and public sectors for over three decades.

“As Engr. Salako-Oyedele celebrates her 60th birthday today, I pray that God will increase her in good health to enable her to render more service to humanity, Ogun State and Nigeria,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He also praised her commitment to public service and described her as a seasoned technocrat and administrator who has contributed to positive change in Ogun State.
