Digital services provider Globacom has partnered with electronics company Samsung to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 smartphones in Nigeria.
The new devices were unveiled on Tuesday at a masterclass held at Globacom’s corporate headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event was attended by Glo subscribers, company representatives and members of the media.
As part of the partnership, Glo subscribers who pre-order either of the new smartphones will receive 18GB of free data and gift items worth up to N1.2 million.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 come with updated design and features, including larger screens and artificial intelligence integration.
Pre-orders for the devices began at the event, with several Glo subscribers placing their orders.
Samsung’s head of product marketing, Stephen Okwarah, said the company has built a strong business relationship with Globacom over the years.
“Globacom has always given Samsung good numbers in terms of sales orders from subscribers,” he said.
He also highlighted the features of the devices for customers looking to upgrade or switch phones.
Globacom’s head of division (West), Abdulrazaq Ande, said the devices are available for pre-order at Glo retail outlets across Nigeria.
“These devices represent the cutting edge of mobile innovation,” he said, adding that “Globacom is proud to make them available exclusively at Glo retail outlets across Nigeria.”
He also explained that the partnership with Samsung “reflects our broader commitment to innovation. With our fiber-optic expansion, and smart solutions for homes and businesses, Globacom is building the future of digital life in Nigeria and we’re doing it with world-class partners.”
He encouraged interested customers to “visit any Gloworld outlet and pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 series to take advantage of the offer.”
Attendees who pre-ordered the phones at the launch event participated in a lucky dip to win various items.
The top prize, a 55-inch Samsung QLED TV, was won by Lagos-based telecoms products dealer Idowu Emmanuel.
