Veteran musician Salawa Abeni has debunked rumours of her death.
Salawa on Wednesday posted a video on Instagram, assuring her fans that she is alive and well.
“My family, friends, and fans home and abroad. Thank you so much for your love and concern. I am alive, hail, and hearty. Please disregard all the rumours. Some blogs will do the unthinkable just to trend. It is rather shameful. The Queen is fine and doing very well. May God bless you all 🙏🏽,” she wrote.
Singing in the video, the 63-year-old added that anyone wishing her dead would “go before her.”
Known as the Queen of Waka, Salawa began her music career in the 1970s and became the first Yoruba female artiste to sell over a million copies of an album with her debut ‘Late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed.’
Salawa is the latest Nigerian celebrity to refute rumours of death this year. Actor Chiwetalu Agu recently released a video saying he is “alive and well” after stories of his death spread online. Yinka Quadri also told fans, “I, Yinka Quadri, is alive, hale and healthy.”
