Fuji musician Saheed Osupa has expressed gratitude to Afrobeats star Burna Boy after the Grammy winner named him among his greatest of all time (GOAT) singers.
The 55-year-old on Thursday shared a video of Burna Boy’s conversation with tennis legend Roger Federer on GOAT Talk on Instagram.
Burna could be heard saying, “My GOAT singers are mostly Fuji artistes, like Saheed Osupa.”
Reacting in an Instagram post, Osupa wrote, “Burna Boy’s heartfelt tribute, naming me as his GOAT singer on a global stage, is a monumental moment that celebrates the soul of Fuji music and its timeless influence. This honour, not only, uplifts my journey, but also, shines a brilliant light on our rich cultural heritage, bridging generations and genres worldwide. I am profoundly grateful for this powerful acknowledgment from a true Afropop titan, the African Giant himself, of whom I am also a great fan.”
Osupa added that he looked forward to attending one of Burna’s concerts to appreciate his “God-given talents” and reciprocate the love.
This is not the first time Burna Boy has praised Osupa. In 2023, the ‘City Boys’ crooner described the Fuji icon as “Yoruba Wutang” and “OG before IG” during an Instagram live session.
Osupa at the time reposted the video, saying, “People that listen and understand the depth of my music are of high IQ and are very intelligent… Thanks to all my great fans all over the world. I can’t love you less and to @burnaboygram thank you for the compliment and the jibe.”
