Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni breaks down during a broadcast while discussing the death of Brigadier General Musa Uba, who was killed in an ambush in Borno State in November 2025.
While speaking on the programme on Monday, Mr Rufai recalled the circumstances of the attack and paused as he described the officer’s final communication.
He said the late general had sent a message requesting assistance after his convoy came under attack and noted that the officer’s device was running low on battery.
“Dr Abati, I feel like crying. General Uba was in the bush. He had low battery and made a message saying ‘please come and save me,’” he said.
Rufai said the message reflected a call for help that did not receive a timely response. He added that the officer was later overrun by the attackers.
“The next thing we heard was that the bandits caught him and killed him,” he said, adding that the incident had continued to draw reactions from members of the public, including comments from the officer’s family.
Brigadier General Musa Uba served as commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade in Damboa, Borno State.
He was killed during an ambush near Wajiroko in Damboa Local Government Area while returning from a military operation.
The attack was linked to fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), an armed group active in the North-East.
The Nigerian Army confirmed his death and noted his role in operations against insurgents in the region.
