Rotimi Salami sets March release for film directed by late Allwell Ademola

Rotimi Salami

Actor Rotimi Salami has announced that a film project he worked on with his late colleague and friend Allwell Ademola will soon be released in cinemas.

The film, titled Kilanko: The Invisible Child, was produced by Rotimi and directed by Allwell before her death in December 2025.

According to Rotimi, the project began as a shared dream between the two filmmakers.

He had earlier shared, “Thank you all for your anticipated support.🙏
KILANKO is our project..
A project to kick start Allwell’s Legacy
Promotional material starts dropping from Tomorrow.

Rotimi said he handled the logistics, funding, and search for sponsors for the project while Allwell focused on directing the film.

“When I told her we should do something big, she said she wasn’t ready,” Rotimi recounted. “And I said, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll produce this, you just direct.'”

He also appealed for support from colleagues and the public ahead of the release.

“You don’t really have to be an actor to support me,” he urged. “You can help us create content, you can help us post when you can.”

The film is scheduled to premiere on March 1 before its cinema release on March 6.

Allwell, an actress, director, and producer, died on December 27. She was known for her work in both Yoruba and English-language films and had a career that spanned several decades in the industry.

Her death drew tributes from colleagues across Nollywood, many of whom described her as a committed filmmaker who contributed both in front of and behind the camera.

Kilanko: The Invisible Child is one of the last projects she directed before her death and is expected to serve as part of her creative legacy.
