Rotary Foundation chairman and former Rotary International president Holger Knaack will arrive in Nigeria on November 1 for a week-long visit aimed at reinforcing Rotary’s commitment to ending polio and improving public health.
Mr Knaack, who will be accompanied by his wife Susanne, is expected to meet with Rotary leaders, government officials, and key partners, including the Federal Ministry of Health, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF) and PATH.
According to a statement from Rotary public image coordinator for Zone 22, Region 27 Ibim Semenitari the visit will feature a range of activities, including participation in a polio immunisation exercise.
Knaack will also visit sites of Rotary’s Programme of Scale – Together for Healthy Families in Nigeria, which supports maternal and child health initiatives. His itinerary includes stops in the Federal Capital Territory and Akwa Ibom State, where the Rotary Healthy Communities Challenge is being implemented.
“Rotary’s work in Nigeria continues to inspire the world. Our shared goal is not only to end polio but to build lasting systems that keep families healthy and strong,” said Rotary International president-elect Yinka Babalola.
Rotary Foundation trustee Ijeoma Okoro added, “The Rotary Foundation transforms generosity into impact. From vaccines that save children to programmes that empower mothers, our work in Nigeria shows what service and compassion can achieve.”
The visit will also include donor recognition events and meetings with local Rotary districts, celebrating the partnerships that continue to improve lives across Nigeria.
