Actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke has applauded fellow actress Iyabo Ojo for showing maturity and unity by involving her ex-husband in their daughter Priscilla Ojo’s wedding.
In an interview with Oyin Momo TV, Ronke praised Iyabo’s commitment as a mother, recalling how present she had always been in her children’s lives.
“I give kudos to Iyabo Ojo. When Priscilla and her brother were young, she was always going everywhere with them. She is a devoted mother. I now respect her more when I saw Priscilla’s dad at the wedding. I also learnt a lesson from her,” Ronke said.
The 50-year-old star also weighed in on the recent backlash gospel singer Tope Alabi faced after her ex-husband was noticeably absent from their daughter’s wedding ceremony.
Ronke urged the public not to be quick to judge, suggesting that the decision may have come from the daughter herself.
“Don’t let us blame Tope Alabi for not allowing the father of her daughter to be present at her wedding. The girl is 27 years old, maybe she was the one that didn’t want to see her dad. She is an adult. If she really wanted her dad, she would have insisted to her mum,” she said.
While Ronke made it clear that she does not support completely shutting out a parent, she stressed that it’s important to understand that some family dynamics are complicated and deeply personal.
She concluded by pointing out that Iyabo’s gesture was likely possible because Priscilla wanted her father involved in her big day.
