Actor Richard Mofe-Damijo’s (RMD) short film Food for the Soul has been nominated for Outstanding Short Form (Live Action) at the 57th NAACP Image Awards.

RMD shared the news on Instagram on Monday, writing, “I’m delighted to share that our short film @foodforthesoulfilm has been nominated for Outstanding Short Form (Live Action) at the 57th NAACP Image Awards. Truly an honour.”

He added, “Congratulations to an incredible team — director and writer @chisomchieke_, producer @justice512k, and my wonderful lead cast mates @karenobilom and @marcusscribner. It was such a pleasure collaborating on a project that beautifully bridges Nollywood and Hollywood.”

In the film, RMD plays the character Emeka and is also listed as one of the producers.

Food for the Soul is directed by Chisom Chieke and tells the story of a first generation Nigerian American and her Black American partner navigating cultural clashes and parental interference, as they are forced to choose between family expectations and personal happiness.

The film features a cast that includes Karen Obilom, Marcus Scribner and Tristan Santana.

Food for the Soul previously won Favorite Short Narrative Film at the 2025 BlackStar Film Festival.

The NAACP Image Awards recognise achievements in film, television, music and literature, with winners expected to be announced at the award ceremony later this year.
