Rest on aunty, Gospel singer Toluwanisings marks Aduke Gold’s first death anniversary

Gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile, popularly known as Toluwanisings, has paid tribute to his colleague Aduke Ajayi, better known as Aduke Gold, on the first anniversary of her death.

On Tuesday, Toluwani posted a picture of Aduke Gold on Instagram with the captions: “1 year today, rest on Aunty Aduke. I love you.”

Fans and colleagues joined in remembering the singer, who died at 37.

One wrote: “Just like yesterday, continue to rest in peace Aduke Gold, akorin bi eni un la yin.”

Another commented: “OMG. A year already. Rest well.”

Others added, “The memory of the just is blessed,” “Keep resting” and “Rest on Aduke Gold, oga o.”

Aduke Gold died on August 12, 2024, from cervical cancer at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. Her brother, Aderogbo Ajayi, confirmed her death at the time, dismissing rumours that she died during fibroid surgery.

“She was ill; she had cervical cancer,” he said. “She was taken to UCH in Ibadan, but unfortunately, she died. We have gotten the death certificate, and whoever is spreading false information should stop.”

Aduke Gold’s death drew tributes from across the gospel music industry, with colleagues and fans praising her voice, ministry and dedication to spreading the gospel through music.
