Actress Jayeola Monje, popularly known as Jaiye Kuti, has been thrown into mourning following the death of upcoming actor Seun ‘Confirm’.
Jayeola took to Instagram on Wednesday to pour out her grief, writing partly in Yoruba:
“Seun confirm….. Aaaah iku omo yin dun mi 00000 Kabiyesi Olorun. Kabiyesi Olorun, Kabiyesi Olorun, ijinle ife alailenikan iku doro. Rest in peace is cruel o. Not now Lord! Odun mi sa. Olorun odun mi o. Aaah Odun mi High BPH. Ama pade lese Jesu. Sun ree o. May God console your family tor.”
In her tribute, Jaiye Kuti mentioned “High BPH” — benign prostatic hyperplasia, an age-associated prostate gland enlargement that can cause urination difficulty — although the cause of Seun’s death has not been officially confirmed.
Seun’s death comes after the Yoruba film industry lost Omotola Odunsi, known for her roles in Lisabi: The Uprising, Officer Adaeze, Amonata, Ayanmo Ire and Ifedayo.
Omotola, a graduate of microbiology from Olabisi Onabanjo University and a product of Odunlade Adekola’s Film Production Academy, died suddenly on August 1.
Actor Akinola ‘Segbowe’ Akano expressed shock, sharing screenshots of a recent WhatsApp chat in which she told him she was fine.
“You said you were FINE & BACK! This is a rude shock, Omotola! Journey well, sister,” he wrote.
Odunlade Adekola also paid tribute, posting simply: “Jesus Christ. RIP Omotola.”
Patience ‘Pat’ Ugwu died in February at 35, Nkechi Nweje also died in March after complications from surgery, Monalisa Stephen died in May from low blood sugar and internal bleeding, and Tolani Akintunde died later that month from a heart attack in the UK.
