Funke Felix-Adejumo, wife of Agape Christian Ministries founder Felix Adejumo, has responded to critics of wealthy pastors, questioning why clerics are frequently attacked over their lifestyle and church finances.

Speaking at a programme during Pastor Jerry Eze’s conference in a video circulating on Thursday, Reverend Adejumo addressed ongoing criticism of pastors who drive expensive cars or embark on large projects.

Reacting to such claims, Adejumo said pastors do not depend solely on offerings.

“What have we done to you? Do you think it is the offering we’re depending on?” she asked.

“When you see us driving flashy cars, you will be squeezing your nose as if you want it to block. We told you to repent but you don’t want to. You can go to hell.”

She said she had built a house for people living with leprosy and carried out other projects that are not publicised.

She also cited Pastor Eze’s philanthropic efforts, saying he has empowered many people.

Funke Felix-Adejumo criticised those who mock pastors online.

“Those sniffing their noses in mockery, very soon your nose will block,” she said, adding that pastors preach to save people from hell and that critics are free to reject the message.

She urged Christians not to join online attacks against clerics and questioned whether Muslim faithful publicly ridicule their religious leaders.

She warned believers against speaking against “men of God” if they expect to continue enjoying God’s blessings.

Her comments come amid renewed debates on social media over church funding, transparency and the lifestyle of some Nigerian pastors.
