Reactions trail Abuja concert mayhem as fans turn against Blaqbonez

Rapper Blaqbonez

Rapper Blaqbonez was met with hostility during his performance at the Delphino Picnic show behind the Abuja Velodrome.

The concert, which also featured Runtown and Duncan Mighty, turned chaotic when some audience members began booing the rapper and throwing objects at the stage.

Footage from the event shows bottles, water sachets, and other items being hurled toward Blaqbonez as he performed his hit song ‘ACL’ from his latest album, No Excuses. Security had to intervene to protect him, allowing him to continue performing despite the disruption.

Blaqbonez later reacted on social media, writing jokingly, “Thought they could stop me from doing ACL, I gave them 3 times.”

Observers say the backlash may be connected to his ongoing feud with fellow rapper Odumodublvck. Blaqbonez’s ‘ACL’ is thought to contain lyrics aimed at Odumodublvck, and tensions between the two have been ongoing. Odumodublvck described the feud as “personal” and said he would not revisit it publicly.

Fans and social media users condemned the crowd’s actions.

Comments included, “No one deserves to be treated like that on stage, even if you don’t like their music,” and “Throwing objects is unacceptable.” Some noted the performance may not have matched the crowd’s taste but emphasized that violence is never justified.
