Actor Ray Emodi has announced that he is leaving acting to pursue a career in music.
He shared the news in a video on his social media pages on Tuesday.
“I have stopped acting in films. I quit,” he said. Ray explained that the decision was influenced by his family, who maintain strict rules and a reputation he wants to respect.
“This is a decision that has come with a lot of consequences. My family does not support this. I respect their decision and I do not want anything to harm the family name,” he added.
Ray also reflected on some of the challenges he faced on set, including shooting during unsafe situations. “There was like a craziness going on in the town next to our town, and we were still shooting,” he said.
Despite leaving acting, Ray asked his fans to support him in his new journey. “I love every single Nollywood fan, and I am not leaving you. I am just going to make music,” he said.
He began his career in 2013 and rose to prominence with roles in several Nollywood films. Ray had taken a break from acting a few years ago due to health and anxiety challenges.
Recently, he has released music and collaborated with artists, including appearing on a new two‑track EP by Cruz of Life.
Fans have expressed mixed reactions to his announcement, with some wishing him success in music and others encouraging him to reconsider acting.
