Former Big Brother Naija housemate Queen Atang and her family narrowly escaped a serious accident after the POP ceiling in their sitting room collapsed on Wednesday morning.
Sharing a video of the aftermath on Instagram, Queen Atang said the incident happened around 7:58 a.m., shortly after she returned home from an overnight work engagement.
She wrote, “7:58am God said, not this family 🙏 Guys, I worked late into the night. I was at the airport picking up my girl who just arrived in Nigeria for her Guinness World Record project. Because of the limited time we have, we had to shoot all through the night.
“I got home around 4am. When I arrived, my kid sister was still sewing.”
She explained that she had earlier asked her workers to rest in the sitting room and leave in the morning, but persuaded one of them to go home for safety.
She added, “By 6am this morning, she left. Meanwhile, my younger sister and my nanny were still awake sewing. Normally, she sews till morning and then sleeps off in the sitting room. I thank God they didn’t sleep there today.”
According to her, the ceiling collapsed while her sister and nanny were still awake.
“They were still sewing when the POP ceiling fell. They both literally had to run for their lives,” she wrote.
Queen said she was asleep when her mother alerted her about the incident, adding that her immediate concern was the safety of her family members.
“The first thing I asked was, ‘Mommy, where is Doctor @dr_brightie and my nanny?’ She replied, ‘They’re upstairs.’ My blood pressure came down immediately. 🙏”
She noted that this was the second ceiling collapse in her home in recent weeks.
“A few weeks ago, it was my garage POP that fell, This morning it’s my sitting room.”
Queen Atang said she is currently coordinating a Guinness World Record project scheduled to begin on Friday, while also making plans to move her family to a safer space.
