Comedian Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has shared a message of gratitude and resilience two years after a devastating fire gutted his Lekki mansion.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the 53-year-old posted a video montage that showed footage of the charred remains of his former home, followed by the stunning transformation of the rebuilt property.
“Two years ago today, everything went up in flames: my home, my peace, my comfort zone. And that was just the beginning,” AY said in the voiceover accompanying the video.
“I have seen betrayal, lies, and storms that tried to silence everything I built. But I am still here, not because I am lucky, but because God is faithful.”
The video features glimpses of the new home’s luxurious interior, marble flooring, grand staircases and a tasteful mix of modern and Afrocentric decor.
The fire, which occurred in 2023, destroyed the original building and left AY and his family temporarily displaced.
At the time, the incident sparked an outpouring of sympathy and support from fans, fellow celebrities and members of the public.
In his latest post, the father of two reflected on the difficult journey, noting that despite attempts to pull him down, he continues to rise.
“They still plot, talk, but while they walk in darkness, I walk in light. Every setback was a setup for something greater,” he added.
“Thank You God for beauty after ashes.”
The unveiling of the rebuilt mansion has triggered a fresh wave of congratulatory messages on social media, with fans and colleagues celebrating the comic star’s perseverance and success.
