Fashion designer Prudent Gabriel has left fans emotional after gifting her mother a car as an umugwo gift.
Sharing a video on Instagram on Friday, she captured her mother’s excitement and joy. She wrote:
“Omugwo Gift for my Mother 🥹 My mom made childbirth so easy and smooth for me 🥺. From pregnancy till postpartum, she was always there. She would carry Keon and tell me, ‘Go and sleep, go to work, I’ll take care of him.’ She follows me everywhere so I can be close to Keon 🥹. She keeps reminding me to eat well so I can express enough food for him because I told her I want to do Exclusive.
“Mommy, I love you and Daddy too! I know my daddy will drive even more now 😂💕 Car from my favorite car plug @win.autos. Thank you so much for always delivering the best.”
Umugwo is an Igbo tradition that celebrates a woman’s childbirth. It is a period when relatives, especially the mother, come to help with baby care and household chores. It is marked by gifts and gestures of appreciation, showing love and support for the new mother.
Prudent Gabriel welcomed her first child, Keon, earlier this year with her husband, gospel singer Peterson Okopi. In her post, she praised her mother for being hands-on from pregnancy through postpartum, making sure she rested and ate well while breastfeeding exclusively.
