Brand influencer Priscilla Ojo has come to the defence of her mother, actress Iyabo Ojo, following criticism on social media.
Iyabo has in recent days faced backlash after the premiere of her film The Return of Arinzo. At the event, actress Funke Akindele was seen snubbing colleague Toyin Abraham. Both actresses are known to be close to Iyabo, leading some fans to question why she did not intervene.
In response, Iyabo said she had reached out to both parties and appealed for reconciliation, adding that the peace process ended because of Toyin. Despite this, some social media users accused her of taking sides.
Reacting in a lengthy Instagram post on Thursday, Priscilla said her mother has been unfairly targeted since announcing the film.
She wrote “Always misunderstood, always blamed!! even when she’s not the one in the mix. Since Arinzo’s announcement, can’t you see the pattern? A lot of drama back-to-back, just for one aim: ruin her plans, but God’s stronger than man. And this movie will sell in Jesus’ name!
“When she’s quiet, they twist the story!!!! When she speaks, they get angry about the truth and still twist the story!
“All in all, a good heart’ll always win. The return of Arinzo’s already a masterpiece 🎬, and no matter how they gather, if the gathering isn’t of God, they’ll fail. Didn’t you see the magnitude of people who showed up for the movie premiere? If she were a bad person, do you think people would show up and support her? Exactly, that shows how she shows up and supports people.
