Prince Eke takes aim at colleagues, other celebrities supporting politicians

Actor Prince Eke has criticised some entertainers for staying silent on corruption and poor governance, alleging that they are aligning with politicians for financial gain.

Prince wrote on Instagram on Tuesday that fans should not be surprised to see some celebrities “standing beside our oppressors” during political campaigns. He said this happens because some entertainers prioritise money over speaking out on national issues.

“Actors and musicians alike watched Nigeria drown in corruption and bad governance and kept their mouths shut,” he wrote. “Why? Because they are waiting for politicians to throw them a few peanuts to come and dance during campaigns. If Nigeria actually worked, many of them would still be earning royalties from movies they acted in decades ago.”

He added: “Many of them are broke, desperate, and perfectly willing to sell their conscience to the highest bidder. After all, conscience no dey put food for their table.”

Prince Eke, known for roles in Nollywood films such as Secret Code, has been active in the industry since the early 2000s.
