Lagos socialite and nightclub owner Mike Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, has reopened his Proxy Lagos club almost seven months after it was raided by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
In an Instagram video shared on Tuesday, Pretty Mike spoke about the personal and business challenges he faced since the October 26, 2025 raid. He said the period had been especially difficult because it coincided with the death of his father.
“Hello everyone, hope you are doing fine. It’s been a minute since I’ve been on this space. I believe you all know there comes a moment in life when everything should actually just come to a pulse or an end,” he said.
“For me, that moment was burying my father, my hero. Beyond the lights, the camera, the grand entrance, I’m still human and that event just broke me in ways that I’m still learning or trying to understand.”
Pretty Mike described the NDLEA raid as a “storm” that affected his team, family, business and reputation. “Proxy has been cleared to reopen,” he said. “Proxy is more than a nightclub. It’s a culture. It’s a vibe. It’s where Lagos comes alive.”
He thanked supporters during a period he called a “season of heavy silence” and said he was returning with “a heart full of gratitude.”
The October 2025 raid on Proxy Nightclub in Victoria Island led to the arrest of more than 100 guests, including Pretty Mike and former Big Brother Naija housemate Tuoyo Ideh. The agency said cartons of banned substances, including loud and laughing gas, were recovered at the venue.
The NDLEA later charged Pretty Mike and the club’s supervisor with offences including conspiracy, unlawful possession and allowing the premises to be used for illegal drug activities. A Federal High Court in Lagos granted Pretty Mike bail in the sum of N50 million.
The club’s reopening followed a court decision that dismissed the NDLEA’s attempt to keep the venue sealed while its appeal continued. The court ruled that the agency had not shown reasons to delay the club’s unsealing.
