Singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, has been arraigned and denied bail after facing multiple criminal charges at a federal high court in Ogun State.
Portable appeared in court on Monday, facing a nine‑count charge that includes assault, theft, resisting arrest and causing harm.
The charges stem from an incident on New Year’s Day at the singer’s Odogwu Bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area. Prosecutors allege Portable attacked his estranged partner, known as Ashabi Simple, several police officers and other individuals.
According to the prosecution, the singer also stole a Mercedes‑Benz E300 valued at about N12 million and registered to Ileyemi Damilola. Two siblings of Ashabi Simple testified as witnesses in court, although she was not present.
The police further accused Portable of obstructing and assaulting W/Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi while she was carrying out her official duties.
Portable’s bail application was denied by the judge because the police officer allegedly assaulted in the incident was not present in court. The singer has been remanded in custody and will return to court on 19 January for another bail hearing.
This is not the first time Portable has faced court proceedings. In April 2025, he was sentenced to three months in prison by a magistrate court in Ogun State after being found guilty of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest in a separate case.
