Police Service Commission names Chairman’s Hall after late ex-IGP Arase

Former IGP Solomon Arase

Police Service Commission (PSC) has renamed its Chairman’s Hall on the sixth floor of its corporate headquarters as Solomon Arase Hall in honour of its late chairman, former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase.

Ikechukwu Ani, spokesman for the PSC, made the announcement on Thursday and said a strong delegation from the commission will attend the final burial rites in Edo State.

At a day of tributes in Abuja, PSC chairman DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) spoke of Arase’s service to the police, saying he was a scholar and reformer.

Mr Argungu was represented at the event by the director of human resource management, Aminu Malumfashi.

Arase’s final journey began with a tribute event on Wednesday, held at the Police Resource Centre in Jabi, Abuja.

A requiem mass is scheduled for Friday, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja, followed by a lying-in-state at his residence in Maitama on Saturday.

After these ceremonies, his remains will be flown to Benin, Edo State, for the continuation of burial rites.

His body will be interred on Friday, October 3, in his Benin residence.

Arase died on August 31.
