Lagos State Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh has ordered a formal investigation into multiple sexual allegations against the Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor.
The directive follows social media posts detailing allegations by several women, including, actress Doris Ogala.
Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed on Sunday that the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, had been instructed to take over the case.
“The CP has directed the SCID to invite the pastor for investigation, despite the fact that no one has formally come forward to report,” Spokesperson Adebisi said.
She added that alleged victims and witnesses would also be invited to assist the investigation.
QEDNG had earlier reported that Pastor Okafor stepped aside from ministerial duties on New Year’s Day as the allegations gained attention.
The allegations emerged after Okafor’s wedding to a new bride, Pearl, on December 16, 2025.
The ceremony was attended by several clerics.
Last Sunday, December 28, Okafor publicly apologised to Ogala during a church service, where he knelt on the pulpit, admitted to “past mistakes” and asked for forgiveness.
Ogala sparked the controversy on December 14 when she shared videos on Instagram, alleging a nine-year relationship with the pastor that began in 2017.
She accused him of promising her marriage, sharing explicit content and contributing to the breakdown of her marriage.
In later posts, Ogala claimed the pastor offered her $10,000 to retract her allegations and accuse another cleric.
She later demanded N1bn in damages through a legal notice, citing threats and intimidation following her arrest and detention.
As the matter developed, other women, including Okafor’s former wife, Bessem Okafor, also made allegations of infidelity, deception and physical abuse.
Some members of the church, however, dismissed the claims in interviews with Saturday Punch, describing them as attempts to extort money from the pastor.
Adebisi said she had personally contacted a YouTuber who interviewed some of the alleged victims to help investigators reach witnesses.
“The CP also ordered that witnesses be brought forward to provide statements,” she said.
The police said investigations would continue and urged all parties involved to cooperate.
