Police open investigation into case of alleged sexual abuse of minor

The police in Bauchi State said an investigation has begun into a disturbing case of child sexual abuse allegedly committed by a 40-year-old resident of Tashan Jama’are in Katagum Local Government Area.

The spokesperson of the command, CSP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed this to newsmen in Bauchi

He said the matter was formally reported on March 1, at about 14:00 hours by a concerned citizen at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Azare.

Wakil said the suspect is alleged to have repeatedly abused a 12-year-old Arabic school pupil, who had been employed to assist her run her business.

“The victim, an Arabic pupil, was reportedly housed in the suspect’s residence, where he was subjected to inappropriate conduct for two months.

During an interview, the victim described how the suspect, whom he trusted as a maternal figure, engaged him in acts of a sexual nature.

“He said he was given a drink, which was a mixture of lemon juice and something,” the police said.

Wakil said the suspect admitted to the offence.

He said that she would be charged in court for the offence.
