The Lagos State Police Command has begun an investigation after two members of a Nollywood production crew were found dead on a movie location in Lekki, Lagos.

The victims, lighting director Ekemini “GeeTee” Imeh and his associate Ayodeji Odediran, were discovered lifeless inside a parked Nissan vehicle on Saturday, February 7. The location was at Evercare Hospital, which was being used for filming.

Police said the men arrived early to install lighting equipment and later went to rest in the car after completing their work. “They were later said to have entered a tinted Nissan vehicle to rest while awaiting further production activities for a movie reportedly directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma,” a police source told Punch.

At about 11 am on that day, a staff member delivered breakfast to them inside the vehicle while the air conditioning was on. The source added, “While the filming was ongoing, calls to their phones went unanswered. It was after the filming ended around 8pm that their lifeless bodies were later found in the vehicle.”

Police noted that one of the men was found foaming at the mouth while the other had blood stains around the nose and lips. The bodies were taken to a morgue and CCTV footage from the location is being reviewed as part of the investigation.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi confirmed that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba. She said, “The case has been transferred … for further investigation while autopsy and toxicology examinations were being conducted to determine the cause of death.”

Imeh was the chief executive officer of a lighting company and worked on major productions including King of Boys and music videos for artists such as Davido.

Authorities have not released an official cause of death. Police said findings from autopsy and toxicology reports will determine the next steps in the investigation as inquiries continue.
