Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party.

The resignation was conveyed in a letter dated December 29 and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area.

The governor said the decision takes immediate effect.

In the letter, which was acknowledged by the ward leadership a day later, Governor Mutfwang cited the need for focused leadership, clear direction and improved service delivery.

He expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunity to serve within the democratic system and thanked party leaders and supporters for their backing over the years.

He said prevailing political circumstances informed his decision to leave.

“Given the realities of the moment and guided by my commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction and service delivery, I am compelled to seek an alternative platform,” the governor said.

The development has drawn attention in Plateau State, with reports suggesting that Mutfwang may be set to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.
