Big Brother Naija’s former housemate Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has updated her Instagram bio to include the word “orphan,” even though her parents are alive.
The reality TV star won the seventh season of Big Brother Naija in 2022 and has since worked as an actress.
Phyna has not released a statement explaining the update.
Phyna’s family has occasionally been in the public eye. In 2025, her younger sister, Ruth Otabor, died following a road accident that led to a leg amputation before she passed on August 31, 2025. Following this loss, Phyna temporarily deactivated her Instagram account, prompting sympathy from fans and colleagues.
There have also been past reports of disagreements between Phyna and her father over financial matters, which were discussed online.
Phyna’s rise to fame from Big Brother Naija has seen her take on acting projects and endorsement deals.
