Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi has paid a condolence visit to Esther Chinyere Onyekesi, mother of the late entrepreneur Ifesinachi Onyekere, popularly known as Fish Magnet.

In a post on X on Wednesday, Mr Obi shared photos from the visit, describing the 33-year-old as a “promising young Nigerian SME entrepreneur” whose life was cut short in a “shocking and senseless act of violence.”

Ifesinachi, managing director of Fish Magnet Outlet in Awka, Anambra State, was abducted last month by unknown persons and later killed.

His body was found abandoned in Amawbia.

Obi called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the murder and ensure justice is served.

“We must not allow our society to become a haven for lawlessness,” he wrote.

“Government, community and citizens alike must work together to build a safer, more secure Nigeria.”

The former governor of Anambra State also prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and for strength for his grieving family.

The Anambra State Government had earlier condemned the killing, describing it as “dastardly and heart-wrenching.”

The commissioner for information, Law Mefor, vowed that the perpetrators would be brought to justice, noting that the vehicle used in the abduction had already been recovered.
