Nollywood veterans Pete Edochie and Joke Silva will star alongside rapper MI Abaga in Gammy & The Living Things, an animated feature billed as Nigeria’s most ambitious to date.
The film will be released in cinemas on September 5.
Also in the cast is comedian Bovi Ugboma.
MI plays Gammy, a spirited agama lizard who leaves home to chase his dreams in Lagos.
The project was first announced in 2019 as Nigeria’s first full-length 3D animated film. It is produced by Utricle Studios and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment.
At the time of its unveiling, the producers described Gammy as a “wide-eyed agama lizard” determined to become a superstar in Lagos despite the dangers of the city.
Pete Edochie is regarded as one of Africa’s most respected actors. He became famous for his role in the 1985 TV adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart.
Joke Silva is an actress and director with over three decades in the film industry. She has starred in productions such as The Secret Laughter of Women and Citation.
MI Abaga is one of Nigeria’s most decorated rappers. He rose to fame with his 2008 album Talk About It and has since won several awards including Best Hip Hop Artist at the MTV Africa Music Awards.
